Who is this for?

share-linkThis might not be for you. I have written blog posts before for different reasons. Sometimes for my job to promote a product. Other times to get a new job by demonstrating my knowledge. Occasionally just to share ideas I thought people could benefit from. I have different reasons to start writing now.
Writing helps me think clearly. I assume in my head I can explain an idea well until I try out loud and my arguments falls apart. It’s easy to fool yourself into thinking you understand a thing more than you do. Writing forces me to wrestle with what I don’t understand. That is the primary reason for this blog. It lets me work out my thinking with some rigor. The fact that someone might read it forces me to take the conversation outside my own head. It forces me to not take shortcuts.
The other reason I am writing is to take a stand on for what I believe. There is a lot going on in the country and the world right now. I don’t have a platform and I don’t want one. I am not an expert that anyone should listen to me. But I don’t want to be silent. I want to hold myself accountable to what I believe. This is a place where I can write those things down.
Finally this is for my kids and grandkids someday. I wish I knew more about both of my grandfathers. I knew them when they were alive but they were men of few words. I wish I had a journal or an old box of letters they had written. This is my old box of letters.
So I write to think better, I write to hold myself accountable to my beliefs, and I write to leave some thoughts behind for my kids to find. Beyond that if you find yourself here and you want to keep reading, you are welcome to. It is the internet after all.
